Unearthed – Copper & Abalone Drop Earrings
A one-of-a-kind pair of sculptural earrings combining hand-formed copper, repurposed antique tin and shimmering fragments of abalone shell.
At the centre of each earring is a tiny cup formed from antique tin, filled with fragments of abalone shell and set in resin. The shell catches the light beautifully, revealing flashes of pearly blue, green and silver that contrast with the warmth and texture of the surrounding copper.
Each tin cup is suspended within an irregular hand-formed copper circle, creating an open, lightweight design with plenty of movement. The marks, variations and imperfections in both the copper and antique tin have deliberately been retained, celebrating the history of the materials and giving the earrings their distinctive Wabi-Sabi, found-object character.
No two pieces can ever be exactly alike.
